What does “English Friendly” mean for study modules?
A module labeled English Friendly is designed so that international students can participate even if their German language skills are not yet sufficient for a regular German-taught module.
Typical features include:
- Course materials (e.g., slides, scripts, literature) are fully or partly available in English.
- Lectures or seminars may be held in German, but participation is supported through supplementary English materials.
- Assessments (e.g., essays, presentations, exams) can often be completed in English upon agreement.
- Communication with instructors and supervisors is possible in English.
The English Friendly label thus provides a bridge for international students: it enables active participation in the module while they continue to improve their German language skills.
